Thankful 2011: Kristin, Lee, John, Lindsey, Ben, Travis, and Amanda

by Samantha

I’m caving and finishing these today. Massive blog post.

24. Kristin

I met Kristin in Speech class in 2007. I dreaded this class. I put it off as long as I possibly could. But once I started the class, I fell in love with it. It was one of my favorite classes ever. Plus I met Kristin there. We became quick friends and constantly worked on speeches and stuff together. She was doing some singing stuff so we talked a lot about music. And boys.

We also went to Dunkin’ Donuts a lot to hang out study. And for one of our last classes, we took the entire class donuts.

Kristin can be hyper beyond belief. She is also blonde, like me, so you can just imagine the kinds of adventures we would have. One of my favorites was our Walmart trip. We had an entire discussion about the Yeti from Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer.

Our birthdays are a day apart, so we consider ourselves birthday twins.

I went to a Carrie Underwood concert with her.

I am so proud of her and I love her and miss her. She is married now with two sweet little boys. I am so thankful to have her in my life for all of this time. We really don’t talk much anymore, but I still consider her one of my closest friends.

25. Lee

I met Lee in 2007 at the filming of the Walt Disney World Christmas Parade. He was one of Sergio’s friends and he hung out with us the entire day.

Lee is the epitome of ridiculous and amazing all at once. He is hilarious. Any time I have ever spent with him has been so much fun. He can always cheer me up on bad days, too.

“BONUS JONAS! WOOOO!!”

“We should make inflatable pants that turn into chairs.”

He’s a big fan of Chelsea Kane. I met her at Disney Channel Games in 2008 and she agreed to talk to him on the phone. So funny. I don’t know what he said to her on the phone but she was blushing big time. It was adorable.

He came to visit me at Pooh’s once. He then left and told the entire Twitter world he proposed to me. Definitely that never happened, haha.

Sometimes Lee and Sergio argue over who loves me more and who I love more.

He gave me a Pluto silly band once out of nowhere. He also introduced me to that which is Captain EO.

He was also the only person who would go see Tangled with me when it came out (because my other friends were all lame and saw it without me…). It was super fun watching it with Lee.

I’m thankful for his sense of humor and for the random times I see him. Sometimes we go almost an entire year without hanging out. But I am very thankful for his friendship.

26. John

I don’t have a photo with John, so I stole that one from his Facebook. It was his profile photo when I met him.

I met him in 2009. He worked Package Pickup and was always in Fantasyland. The first time I met him was in Fantasy Faire because he stopped to talk to Jessica. After that, every time I saw him, I was always in Tinkerbell’s when he would do his rounds and more likely than not I was freaking out about something silly or pixie dusting children. It was always entertaining. He was kind of always like, “Is this the only shop you ever work in?!” Haha.

John likes Phil of the Future. When I saw this, I knew we were definitely going to be friends.

One time while I was in the Tink’s stockroom, there was an eyelash stabbing my eye. I was standing there completely flipping out and John walked through the door. It was so funny because I was legitimately freaking out. I made sure to tell him later that it all worked out okay and that my eye still existed.

John speaks Chinese and I am so jealous of that. He’s supposed to teach me someday. He was here over the summer but seriously, schedules suck sometimes. So I didn’t really get any Chinese lessons.

We had some adventures though which were really fun.

“I’m about to dictionary this thing up!”

We went to McDonald’s with Bekah. And got all of the dipping sauces for the chicken nuggets.

Bekah put her hand on John’s leg at the movies.

Bekah: Does this make you uncomfortable?
John: It makes me want popcorn.

John is seriously one of the nicest guys I have ever met and I am so thankful for him. He’s a huge dweeb and pretty much brightens the entire world up.

27. Lindsey

Lindsey and I became friends about six months into my full time position in Fantasyland. I don’t really remember what we first talked about, but I remember just getting along with her really well. She’s one of my closest friends and I absolutely hate that I don’t get to see her all that much anymore.

“Will you climb up the ladder and get Baby Dumbo and Annie for me? Pleaseeee?”

Most of our adventures at work had to do with the stock rooms. And me being extremely loopy when I am tired and/or sick.

And lots of venting sessions in the Tink stockroom.

I love going to the parks with her. She’s one of the few people who will actually meet characters with me.

I also love having sleepovers with Lindsey because we always watch movies I have never seen. Even though she has this giant stinking poster of a whale and I’m terrified of whales.

Speaking of whales. Guess who sent in a photo of a whale for my Beauty Is… contest last year to spite me?! LINDSEY!!! -coughs- :)

We went to see the Backstreet Boys together. Best. Concert. Ever.

I also went to Tampa with her on her birthday this year and that was so much fun! We saw dolphins and everything.

I’m very thankful for her and all of the time we get to spend together. She’s a very loyal friend and I don’t know what I would do without her.

28. Ben

Ben is my little brother. I dubbed him this almost immediately when I met him at work. He is a lifeguard and one of my favorite coworkers. He is hilarious.

“I can’t think of the right word. It starts with a ‘rou’. WAIT! I got it! DURABILITY! It’s 5:45. 4:45. Why do clocks always point towards the wrong number. You don’t have that problem with a digital watch. It would never get a 4 and a 5 mixed up.”

He is also from Ohio, like me.

And can give you lessons about snapdragons.

“When I was little my favorite animals were aliens.”

“My alter ego is Johnny Ray. He’s a radio host.”

He never brought his baby picture in for the bulletin board. So he turned into Justin Bieber.

“Do your feet ever get stuck in your pants at the bottom where your foot goes? Good because I thought mine were broken.”

He makes work so happy and I am so thankful to know him and have him in my life!

29. Travis

I met Travis randomly at Walmart one night with Bekah. I think I’ve told this story before, but he added me on Facebook. And we started talking about “What Do I Know of Holy” and how it’s such a gorgeous song. We really started talking on Thanksgiving last year, though. We started talking about gravy boats and had the most hysterical conversation about it.

I love Travis to death. He loves God so much and is very wise. He has helped me countless times and has been a great friend to me, Bekah, Andrew, and Angie.

I used to tell him bedtime stories via text messaging. Good times.

“Those badgers, man!”

“My shoe. My big shoe. My shoe is big. My big, big shoe.”

Random beatboxing in the Epcot parking lot…

His stupid cat story. Ugh.

He swears I named DinoTravis after him. But I didn’t. I didn’t even know Travis when I named DinoTravis.

“You could sell your cuddles! You’re so cuddly!”

I miss Travis. He moved away. I am thankful for him, though. He’s awesome.

30. Amanda

And last, but not least, is Amanda. She was part of the Fall 2009 CP also, but she had worked for Disney previous to that. I met her when she was in Fantasyland. We never really hung out outside of work, but we always talked at work.

She’s so fun and she’s a sweetheart. She recently moved here to teach and it’s been so nice having her here.

We have story swaps, which is awesome. (That’s my fancy way of saying, we have venting sessions.)

She’s extremely chill and I love that about her. I’m excited to get to know her more as time goes on.

For everyone I didn’t mention, I am still very thankful for you! I am so blessed to have so many people who are a part of my life story. :)
